Let’s Talk Sunscreen
What’s the most important product for protecting your skin from the signs of aging? Retinoids? Vitamin C? Peptides? Would you be surprised to learn sunscreen is the number one regimen staple for ageless skin? While the other products are all crucial to firm, healthy, youthful skin, neglecting to protect skin from UV radiation will essentially undo all the good work your other products are doing.
Sunscreen used to signal the arrival of summer in our childhood days, but now it's a crucial component of our skincare regimen. If you haven't incorporated sunscreen into your daily routine yet, now's the time to learn how. And if you're already on board, great job. Let’s make sure all your bases are covered.
The most important thing you can do for your skin is sun protection
Wearing sunscreen is one of the best — and easiest — ways to protect your skin’s appearance and health at any age. I’ve tried several sunscreens over the years.
I recently discovered Riman’s Incellderm Aqua Protection Sunscreen and love the way it feels on my skin. This lightweight sunscreen protects from harmful UVA/UVB rays while nourishing the skin all day long. This daily moisturizing, lightweight sunscreen boasts an SPF of 50+ for fun in the sun without the stress of skin damage. Daily as the last step in your morning skincare ritual, at least 30 minutes before sun exposure. This sunscreen can be worn alone or under makeup as a primer.

Some Important Tips:
1. Choose Broad-Spectrum: Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen that protects against both UVA and UVB rays.
2. SPF Matters: Select a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 for adequate protection.
3. Apply Generously: Use about one ounce (a shot glass full) to cover your entire body. Don’t skimp on the amount.
4. Don’t Forget Sensitive Areas: Apply sunscreen to often-missed spots like the ears, neck, lips, and the tops of feet and hands.
5. Reapply Regularly: Reapply every two hours, or more often if swimming, sweating, or towel-drying.
6. Daily Use: Apply sunscreen every day, even on cloudy or cool days, as UV rays can penetrate clouds.
7. Check Expiration Dates: Ensure your sunscreen is not expired, as it may not provide effective protection.
8. Layer with Other Protection: Complement sunscreen with wearing hats, sunglasses, and protective clothing for extra defense against UV rays.
9. Use Water-Resistant Sunscreen: If you’re swimming or sweating, choose a water-resistant formula and reapply as directed.
10. Avoid Peak Sun Hours: Seek shade and limit sun exposure, especially between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when the sun’s rays are strongest.
Following these tips can help you maximize the benefits of sunscreen and maintain healthy skin.
Sunscreen is essential for sunny outdoor occasions, on cloudy or rainy days, and even indoors. Applying SPF is crucial because UVA rays can penetrate windows, and exposure to blue light from screens may harm your skin. If there’s one thing to take away from this post, it’s this no-nonsense advice: wear your sunscreen!
